1. What is a cookie and why do we use it?
A cookie is a small piece of data (text file) that a website stores on your device (i.e., your computer, tablet or cell phone) in order to remember information about you and facilitate your use of the Website, improve the performance and your user experience and/or increase the relevance of our offerings on the Website and on third party websites.
For example, cookies set by ourselves or by our partners (so-called third-party cookies) allow us to track and offer you a better user experience by remembering your saved vacancies or your language preferences when you return to the Website.
2. What types of cookies do we use and how long are they stored?
We have explained the different types of cookies that we use below.
Type of cookies |
Description |
Strictly Necessary Cookies |
These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you that amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information. |
Performance Cookies |
These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance. |
Functional Cookies |
These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly. |
Targeting Cookies |
These cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising. |
For more information on the specific cookies that we use, please see the Cookies List for an overview of the cookies used on the Website, sorted per cookie type and confirming the lifespan of each cookie.
3. How do we use the cookies on our Website?
By default, only Strictly Necessary cookies are active. Strictly Necessary cookies allow the Website to be accessible, and without them, some parts of the Website will not work. They are essential for the basic functionalities of the Website to operate.
Performance, Functional, or Targeting cookies are disabled by default, but you have the chance to activate them the first time you access the Website in the Cookie banner (by clicking the “Accept All” button or via your customized settings) or at any other time via our Cookie Preference Center (see below the section “How can you manage cookies?”).
We use industry-standard cookies, as appropriate, to track your behavior online and gain statistical information at an aggregated level to monitor the operation of the Website, improve the Website based on performance, and assess the effectiveness of campaigns.
For example, we track the number of visits to the Website, where each visitor came from (i.e. the website you visited prior to coming to the Website), and where each visitor goes from the Website (i.e. the website you visit after leaving ours).
4. How can you manage cookies?
Unless you have adjusted your browser settings so that it will block cookies, our systems will issue Strictly Necessary Cookies each time you access the Website.
In the Cookie Preference Center, which you can access via this link, you can manage your preferences to allow or refuse the storing of cookies per type (as described in section 2 above). You can withdraw your consent at any time through that same Cookie Preference Center.
Do note that if you disable certain types of cookies, you may be unable to access certain parts of the Website or use certain functionality.
5. Third-party cookies
Whilst you use the Website, you may encounter links to third-party websites and/or content from third parties.
The Website may also offer you the opportunity to further engage with us and share information with others using social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
The third-party content is added to our Website so we can keep you up to date with carefully selected information that you may find relevant or of interest, however, this can result in these third-party providers storing additional cookies on your device that we have no control over.
Consequently, we suggest you check the websites of any such third parties and their respective privacy and cookie policies for more information about their cookies and how you can manage them.
Please note however that if you choose to access third-party sites through this Website, the cookies we have listed in the previous section may not form an exhaustive list.
Our Web site may contain information from third-party service providers, such as a map showing the location of our offices near you. This information is then provided by a third-party map service provider and may therefore include cookies from that service provider. To view content from these providers, you must first accept their specific terms and conditions. This includes their cookie policies, over which we have no control. We, therefore, recommend that you consult the website of these "third parties" and their privacy policies for more information about their cookies and how to manage them. If you do not view these third parties' information or do not accept their terms, no third-party cookies will be installed on your device.
Google Maps
We use Google Maps on our website to visually display geographic information if desired. In doing so, Google Maps is launched in extended privacy mode so that Google does not store information about visitors to our website before they actually want to use the Google Maps service. As soon as you start the Google Maps service via our website, a connection to Google's servers is established. In the process, data on the use of the Maps functions by website visitors is transmitted to Google's server, among other things to collect statistics and improve usability. The legal basis for storing cookies or accessing information on the user's system is based on the consent obtained as stipulated in Article 6 paragraph 1 and Article 25 paragraph 1 of the AVG. In order to use the Google Maps function, it is necessary to store your IP address. This information is usually forwarded to a Google server in the USA and stored there. We have no further influence on this data transfer. The transfer of data to the USA is subject to appropriate safeguards according to Article 46 (AVG). For this, we have agreed on guarantees with the data importer. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected. You have the right to withdraw your previously given consent for this purpose at any time. This revocation is effective for the future and does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out until the revocation. More information can be found in the Google Maps privacy policy at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-US#intro.
Youtube
This website contains videos from the website YouTube. We use YouTube in the extended privacy mode. According to YouTube, this mode means that YouTube does not store information about website visitors before they view the video. However, providing data to YouTube partners is not necessarily precluded by the extended data protection mode. YouTube thus - regardless of whether you watch a video - connects to Google's DoubleClick network. As soon as you start a YouTube video on this website, a connection is made to YouTube's servers. This allows the YouTube server to know which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you give YouTube the opportunity to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account. Furthermore, after starting a video, YouTube may store various cookies on your end device or use similar recognition technologies (e.g., device fingerprints). This allows YouTube to obtain information about visitors to this website. Among other things, this information is used to collect video statistics, improve the user experience and prevent fraud attempts. If necessary, further data processing processes may be initiated after a YouTube video is started, over which we have no control. YouTube is used in the interest of an attractive presentation of our online offers. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) of the AVG. If additional consent is required, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 Par. 1 lit. a and § 25 Par. 1 of the AVG. The consent issued may be revoked at any time. The withdrawal of consent is effective for the future and does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out until the withdrawal. Any stored data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected. You can find more information about the treatment of user data in YouTube's privacy policy at: https://www.youtube.com/intl/ALL_nl/howyoutubeworks/our-commitments/protecting-user-data/.
